What PDF to HTML can and cannot preserve
A PDF’s fixed layout differs from a responsive web page. Converting readable text does not automatically reproduce columns, images or an accessible semantic structure.
Why this happens
A PDF’s fixed layout differs from a responsive web page. Converting readable text does not automatically reproduce columns, images or an accessible semantic structure.
What to try first
Review the output before publishing it. Rebuild navigation, heading structure and image descriptions if you are turning the document into a complete web page.
Try it on a fresh copy
- Open a PDF containing selectable text.
- Convert it and download the standalone HTML file.
- Open the file in a browser. Check reading order and symbols; rebuild headings and other page structure before using it as a public webpage.
How to tell whether it worked
Open the HTML in a browser and check paragraph order, symbols and headings.
